Mark –
a brilliant but very depressed pianist – is
invited to a secret Club where members help each
other to commit suicide. Upon acceptance of a
new member the Club decides how long he has to
live, but it gives him a privilege of requesting
his last wish that can be as extravagant or
complex as one can imagine. In this Club Mark
meets a Russian woman Maria who came to the US
to write her dissertation on Elena Blavatsky – a
very famous and odious medium of the beginning
of the last century. After certain resistance
Mark and Maria fall in love with each other and
no longer want to commit suicides. But there is
no way out.
